Gigantes Island

Teaser photo of what I plan on writing for foodietraveller. 2 weekends ago, we went to Iloilo-Gigantes + island hopping~ The price was average. But, I don’t know how cheaper you can get than that.

The 2days, 2 nights in Gigantes costed around 2400php. That is inclusive of the boat rent, food (seafoodddd!), accommodations (with aircon), guide, guide’s tip, other transportation (riding behind the motorcycle), tour, etc. Not too bad I think. =)

Summer Palace, Beijing

This was taken last summer during the family only Holy Week Trip.

I was fixing my camera’s setting for Achi’s portrait when I got this ‘test shot.’

8th FCAAF Friendship Dat Bike Challenge 2014

I always look forward to this bike race every year, especially this category: Folding Bike. Although there were less people who wore costumes this year, I think it’s obvious who won this year base on the picture above. …Or the lack of it. =))

Last year for the best in costume, this dude in bathrobe won.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Object

Rain chain

I just came across this in my wordpress feed and thought it was very interesting to do. I hardly post photos anymore, so this could be a start. =)

This structure is a part of photo 132. The image above focused on the rain chain, which acts like a downspout. The architect did not want to expose the pipes of the downspout, because he wanted the visitors to focus on the pyramid-shaped chapel and its massive diagonal structural legs. Having visible vertical pipes would only add more lines to the aesthetics, and would destroy the diagonal lines. The Rain chains are made of steel chains. They look light in the eye, and provides an interesting detail.

When the rain hits the roof, the water will glide to the gutter then clings on the rain chain. It then travels directly to the area drain catch basin. The site is really peaceful. For more pictures of the chapel, please go to this link.

Lunar Halo

I have only read randomly about this a few months ago, and I can’t believe I’m seeing one live! =)

A stand-off

I have always been interested with model kits, but have just recently bought (not only one but) 3 SD’s. lol I blame it on my friends whom I had traveled to Malaysia with. They told me to buy the MG 1:100 models, but I thought I should start with SD’s. Just because they look so adorable! I was tempted to buy the Strike Freedom, but there were no Infinite Justice available. =( They would have looked perfect together! …Bought A Strike Weapon System, Unicorn rx-0, and the Unicorn Banshee instead. I originally planned on getting just one. XD Friend bought the new Protozero 🙂

I think I’d collect SD’s instead.

Cosmania 2013

We didn’t stay for a long time today, just a few hours. So, we only have a few shots. Moreover, we just hanged out outside the function halls. We’ll try to have more pictures in next year’s cosplay.

One comment: There were plenty who cosplayed Shingeki no Kyojin.

Sta. Barbara Chapel, Pampanga

Here is one of our office’s built projects. This was actually a commission project to Bacolor, and designed by big boss. From the rendered images we have in our files, seeing the actual thing was much more fascinating! The design is really simple and structural; pyramidal and open on all 3 sides (the fourth side being the altar). The floor is just plain cement straight to finish. The altar is painted and with regular strip grey wall tiles. The ceiling is just stained plywood, but they did look like natural wood. The roof: asphalt shingles (to be confirmed).

Simple finishes, classy structure. 😉

Living Things World Tour 2013 ♬

Here is one of my favorite shot from Linkin Park’s Concert last Aug 13! I didn’t edit the photo, just added the watermark. 🙂 The concert was so much fun that I didn’t want the evening to end! The audience was awesome. The band seemed to have enjoyed a lot, too. I hope they’d come back soon!

And! A belated happy birthday to Achi ♥ 😉 Her birthday was the same date as Linkin Park’s concert. She’s the biggest fan of LP among us 3. ♥♥♥

still with Angat Residence

This is still from the photoshoot seen at post 129. The picture here is actually the material of the deck, which is Wood Plastic Composite. Their deck used to be just plain cement finish with some gravel. They are thinking of maybe selling this place, so they had it refurbished a bit.

bit of building materials info for those who are not familiar:
Wood can be used for exterior finishes, like wall claddings and floor. The downside is wood can easily rot, corrode, and decay. You need to have it maintained for maybe at least every 5 years, depending on the supplier’s recommendation. There are tiles that simulates wood finishes, but most sizes of them lack the proper dimension of a wood plank to make it seem like real wood.

Wood plastic composite (WPC) is a good alternative for exterior finishes. It contains wood powder and plastic, so it can resist decaying, etc, and will still look and feel like wood. Their length can go up to 4 meters, depending on the supplier. The downside of this material is once the surface is scratched, white gashes may appear. But, there are some suppliers that say their WPC’s, once scratched, will retain the same color of wood. However, they can be a bit more expensive. 🙂
