A stand-off

I have always been interested with model kits, but have just recently bought (not only one but) 3 SD’s. lol I blame it on my friends whom I had traveled to Malaysia with. They told me to buy the MG 1:100 models, but I thought I should start with SD’s. Just because they look so adorable! I was tempted to buy the Strike Freedom, but there were no Infinite Justice available. =( They would have looked perfect together! …Bought A Strike Weapon System, Unicorn rx-0, and the Unicorn Banshee instead. I originally planned on getting just one. XD Friend bought the new Protozero 🙂

I think I’d collect SD’s instead.

Sony NEX 5N

I fell in love with the design the first time I had laid my eyes on them. The price back then was very expensive so I never would’ve thought of buying one…not that I can’t afford it. I just wouldn’t shell out that much cash. (My first love is Leica, but… my annual salary can can barely reach half the price of most M series.)

BUT! Sony is having a summer sale from February 22 – June 2, 2013. =) I used my own savings to buy this baby ♥. It was very hard to look for this camera. Most of the stores I went and called either didn’t have the model anymore, or are selling the display units. =\ The staffs said that Sony is phasing out the 5N.

(Actually, My first choice was buying from the gray market, because even with the sale, they are still way cheaper. But, the merchandisers I had talked to didn’t have stock anymore. One merchandiser said that it might be because they’re phasing out the model. p_q…. Then I called Sony GH. yep, they have one last unit. )

I saw half of my savings poofed just by a swipe. Now I knew how my sister felt when she bought her Canon 600D.

ONE OK ROCK: 残響リファレンス Tour Live in Yokohama Arena DVD

I was actually set on buying them when my sister told me HMV Japan had a sale. XD But, thanks to achi for the late birthday gift and early Christmas gift!!!! \(>u<)/ Ilavet!

The inside booklet is even awesome. I was expecting loads of pictures from the tour, but it consisted more of just a few pages with small images on black background. Minimalist. I like minimalism! ^^.

Sneakers

So, Converse and Gorillaz has this collaboration. I’m not exactly a fan of the band, but I do appreciate their graphics/art and love sneakers. They already have a total of 10 designs out: 8 highs and 2 lows. And, you just can’t deny that the designs are freaking nice!

From the 10 designs, my top fave is the black leather hi one. The design is simple; but I love the zipper details, the soles, and the insides. The second is a tie between the latest white canvas ones and the lead nylon. I like the material of the lead ones, but I prefer the graphics of the white ones. The con of the white canvas is that it attracts dirt a lot more than the nylon. The 3 designs mentioned are not yet available locally.

Anyway, the sneakers above are not exactly ours (shobe and mine). A pair costs PHP3250. Even though I like the design, I don’t think I am willing to buy a pair. My sister’s *ahem* “close guy friend” *ahem* loves the band, apparently. He had already bought 2 Gorillaz sneakers. The other one is the black nylon. He ‘lent’ one of them to us, because he doesn’t wear sneakers regularly. I think he still wants to buy more. He especially likes the camo ones. What does he intend to do with all the sneakers? I’m not sure either… o_o I don’t know how male logic works. A male engineer logic at that.

I’m not sure if I’d like to wear the sneakers a lot. I’m wary that the paint might chip off or something. Then again, my grey lo-top canvas Chucks with silver-ish and bits of pink-graphic-something-paint still have not come off. It’s been almost 2 years since I had it. I usually wear the grey ones or my other pair (almost 6 year old black Chucks All Star canvas) to the office. 🙂 Hm…I think I might just wear the Gorillaz to the office tomorrow. XD

Day 22 to Day 27

Day 22: Favourite Memory

m.a.j.e.

This was a hard theme. Honestly, nothing really popped out immediately after reading the topic. I had a good childhood. I have an endearing family and friends. They make me happy that 95% of the moments I spent with them are part of my fondest memories. (5% for misunderstandings).

I chose a different tactic to arrive to a solution. What is my recent best/happiest/favourite memory? I backtracked to what had happened early this year to last month. 😉 Nice thinking. Good Job.

On the eve of my birthday (I’m a December baby), it was our high school batch’s first Christmas party since graduating, well, high school. Minutes after midnight, we semi-celebrated my birthday with shots for everyone. I didn’t buy those shots, btw. (They were from the actual party. lol) It was my first time celebrating it like that. 🙂 It gave me warm and fuzzy feelings. That night, we (A and I) slept over at J’s house. It was also my first time to celebrate my birthday over at someone else’s house. 😉 We spent the whole day and afternoon just chilling.

The cake was a ‘surprise’ from the CCK siblings (J and her 2 sisters) and A. M was on skype, which was also a surprise. Love you dears~ ♥♥♥

Day 23: Any Animal/bird

Peanuts

Erm….. The birds in the neighbourhood don’t really… show themselves after working hours. And, mornings are always a rush here. The rest of the hours, I’m stuck inside the office. So… this is close enough… ^^; Woodstock.

Day 24: Random

mason jar and tea light

This photo was supposed to be number 102 photo, but I keep on forgetting to share it here. A few weeks ago I released my stress/irritation by doing some arts&crafts. I spray painted a few mason jars: 2 whites, 1 olive green, and 1 glow-in-the-dark. I didn’t know what to do with them yet minus the glow-in-the-dark one. That is until our house’s fuse box suddenly decided to not receive electricity from the main line anymore.

Good thing I had made the said project! The white ones were perfect. The candle inside the small white jar illuminated the room more than when the candle is outside the jar. Not to mention it is safer. For the tea light to not stick on the jar, I had a few stones and sands left from my modelling kit back in college. I poured all of my scraps inside, which was nothing much (approx. 1cm). I then placed the tea light on it. Ta-da~!

The set was on our porch.

Day 25: Purchased

a few items

Monopoly Deal was once a hipster thing. Now it’s mainstream. But, I still like it anyway. I have played this game since early last year, but I have just recently bought my own set (last Saturday to be exact). I’m planning on buying the Sorry! cards. Although, I don’t know anyone else here who is familiar with the Sorry! board game aside from achi and shobe…

The Hooray for Today is from Mcdonalds. I have mentioned this before on Day 7. Technically, I purchased this by completing the breakfast card. XD

Goody’s Spin Pin! I’m still practicing on how to use them on my medium length layered hair. I have tried it on my sister who has longer hair, and it was magic! I plan on buying the bun spin spiral, too! 🙂

Day 26: Small Objects

The pieces of jewellery are from mom’s, who gave it to me. I’m a dragon; hence the dragon pendant. My sisters have their’s, too. A tiger and a ram. Amongst the 3 of us, I wear earrings more often than my 2 sisters do. I only wear these for special occasions. But, I do sometimes wear the earrings on family day outs.

The other items are my small object necessities: The mp3 player to kill time; the bobby pins and hair bands for taming my hair; Lipice lipbalm for chapped lips (lol obviously); and Vicks VapoRub for sinusitis attacks.

Day 27: Building

around the vicinity of COEX, Seoul, South Korea

This is a photo from late last year, but I don’t think I had ever shared it here yet. This was not the most impressive building in Seoul, but I like the effect of the details when one looks at it from the ground. It’s almost psychedelic or mind-boggling!

Day 13 to Day 15

Day 13: Technology

Simple ‘Machines’ or what not

When one mentions technology, words like gadgets, video game consoles, personal computers, automobiles, etc. immediately pops up. Well, I thought I’d post something differently.

Some things that we take for granted: fabrics, watches, tapes, glues, lenses, papers, standard measuring materials. =)

Day 14: 5 Facts

1) Chinese zodiac sign: Dragon (龍)

2) My initials are E.V.O.L.; L meaning Lim. I reversed it: milove. It sounded like my love, so I removed the V. Hence; miloe 🙂 (fun fact: my 2 sisters’ initials are also e.v.o.l ^^ E from dad’s first name, V from mom’s :))

3) I love unruled notebooks ♥ It’s where I put my schedules, ideas, doodles, etc.

4) I also adore writing materials. Whenever we travel, I can’t leave my notebook and pens/pencils. ♥

5) My family sometimes calls me a camel. This is because I can’t be seen without my water jar/bottle, especially at home. Haha. I love drinking water, but not an aquaholic.I like it lukewarm than cold.

Day 15: Sky

sunset funset

Initially, I thought of taking the sky photo from the reflection of a puddle of water. It didn’t rain yesterday; but while walking to the main road, this site greeted me. It was soooo pretty! The vivid colors were like a reverse flame— the bluish hue at the top fading to violet, pink, red orange, yellow. The giant ball of fire, reflecting on glass curtains casting a red orange glow to the city. A rare site in the metro. 🙂

Day 9 to Day 12

La-la-la-la catching up yet again~~~

DAY 9: Flowers

Origami

My only décor here in my cubicle at work. A few more days left before moving to another office~~~ 🙂

Day 9: What I am wearing (more like what I wore)

Saturday chill day

Last Saturday was quite uneventful. Just went to the salon to have my hair trimmed (for the Chinese New Year~~!) and try that hair treatment. Hair treatment seems fine. O_o Might have it treated again after holy week. 🙂

This t-shirt is one of my favorites! The shirt was originally just for guys, but I love the design! I mean, look! It’s the Parthenon! XD Dad bought the Great Wall of China. 😀 ooh~! Couple shirts~! lol =))

DAY 10: Faceless Self-Portrait

peek-a-boo!

Okay, so this is obviously not me lol. But I thought it was too cute to ignore. ^^;

DAY 12: Scene from a window

embouteillage

This is what I see everyday going home from work: lots of cars. …Do they have a term for a group of cars? ..A pollution of cars?

That tall classical building is actually a funeral home. ^^; The name of the establishment is Sanctuarium. Kind of grand for a funeral home, ey? I don’t know why they put funeral homes along that road. Yes, there are others more.

Day 6 and Day 7

Day 6: From a Distance

Quezon City Circle

One of the highest points in Quezon City. If Quezon City Circle is flooded, the water would be at the second floor of our house. Or worse: the roof. o_o

Day 7: Sunset

doodle

I have done this sketch a long time ago. If I rememberer correctly, this was in high school, since my signature here was different. ^^; I was not able to capture a real sunset because today was cloudy. The sky/colors weren’t pretty.

Mcdonalds also has this breakfast promo wherein you have to complete the card’s ‘breakfast menu.’ Once you complete it, you get this cute post-its to ‘share positivity’ to anyone. I think it is quirky. 🙂

Oh yeah~! I’m on schedule once again. ^^ tomorrow is Day 8: Chocolate. =)

Cheers! ^^

Day 2 to Day 5

DAY 2: Outdoor

The Ruins

This classical structure is a tourist attraction in Bacolod called The Ruins. The structure was built n the mid 1800s and then ‘burned down’ during the WWII. After more than 100 years, it is still standing proudly on the estate looking as if it is just under construction.

Imagine what it would have looked like when it was complete. The structure’s building materials and technologies used were top-notched: A-grade concrete, long-span 2-inch thick wooden floors (approx 1m x 20.5m), etc. They were also already using pipes for electrical wires. The septic tank used back then, is still being used right now. Inside the structure, there is a still well-kept interior garden. I can go on forever gushing about The Ruins, but I might bore you ;). All I can say is, THIS IS A MUST VISIT!!!

My sister went to Bacolod to attend a relative’s wedding. I was browsing through her photos and found this. I love the reflection of the structure. It looked as if the estate has a large pond when in fact, it doesn’t. It does have a fountain though ^^; I love the illusion of the photo.

Short history of the Ruins click here 🙂

DAY 3: Shadow of anything

site photo

This structure is actually one of my current job’s government project. I like how the sun was cast on the marble accent wall from the louvers. The shadow added drama to the structure. The second floor windows you see here are supposed to have horizontal louvers. Yeah… you just can’t not have problems in construction, especially when it is a government project.

DAY 4: Favorite Color

绿色

Well, obviously my fave color is green. Haha. These are the green-colored stuffs inside my bag today. I used to have more green stuffs. =)

DAY 5: What I ate

food from Bacolod

This is my lunch for today! Achi, dad, and grandma came home last night from Bacolod. One of the few things that must be brought home to enter the home is Aida’s Chicken Inasal! No other Chicken Inasal can be compared to this (…or maybe JT Manukan’s can).

My dessert/snacks: caramel boat tarts and butter scotches from Virgie’s, also from Bacolod. =)

Day 1: Name

蔣玉卿

Yes, that is my actual Chinese name. The pinyin is Jiǎng Yù Qīng.

From my last trip to Shanghai, I bought this Chinese stone hand-carved stamp. I was so fascinated by it that I stamp it on all of my notebooks! The stamp was inexpensive, because the stone I picked was cheap. I wanted a jade one, but obviously it was very expensive. (o_o)

Today is the 366th day since starting this photo blog. 😀 I thought it is the perfect date to start the photo challenge. ^^
